What is CBD?

CBD has become extremely popular within the wellbeing market, with a wide variety of products available to consumers. Despite its popularity, there is still some confusion as to what CBD is.

CBD (also known as cannabidiol), is a naturally occurring non-psychotropic component of the hemp plant. There are many uses for CBD, however, everyone has their own personal reasons for using these products.

How can I use CBD?

Thanks to its versatility, CBD can be used in many different products. Tinctures and edibles are extremely popular products for consumers, as these are ingested into the body, either by dropping CBD oil under the tongue or eating food containing a dose. Typically, consumers will feel relief in around half an hour, which will last for around four to five hours.

Faith CBD's product range is a skincare and wellbeing range, where products can be either applied to the skin or ingested into the body. Our massage oil with Neroli and body butter are perfect for applying to the skin, leaving it feeling soft and nourished.

Our mint oral spray, tincture and coconut oil can all be ingested into the body. With our oral spray and tincture, these can simply be applied under the tongue, whilst our coconut oil has many other uses, from cooking to moisturising skin and hair.

Can I use CBD with medication?

Topical CBD products that are applied directly to the surface of the skin, such as lotions, creams and salves are safe to use whilst taking medications providing they’re not a transdermal solution intended to do so.

However, ingested and sublingual CBD products, such as oral sprays or tinctures may have the potential to interact with some medications. This is because CBD inhibits the CYP3A4 enzyme; the enzyme responsible for metabolizing 60% of clinically prescribed medications. If CBD inhibits the CYP3A4 enzyme, it can't work as effectively to break down the medications in your system.

A general rule is to avoid any medication that interacts with Grapefruit, as this also inhibits the CYP3A4 enzyme. These medications may include (but is not limited to) antibiotics and antimicrobials, anticancer medications, antihistamines, anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs), blood pressure medications, blood thinners, cholesterol medications, corticosteroids, erectile dysfunction medications, GI medications (such as to treat GERD or nausea), heart rhythm medications, immunosuppressants, mood medications (such as to treat anxiety, depression, or mood disorders), pain medications and prostate medications.

Before using any CBD products, it is important to talk to your doctor about any vitamins, supplements, prescription or over-the-counter medications you're taking.

Is CBD legal?

All Faith CBD products are fully tested and have been produced from an EU-approved strain of Cannabis Sativa plant; making them completely legal to buy and use.

How does CDB work?

The human body contains a system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which uses naturally occurring cannabinoids. Your endocannabinoid system enables your body to maintain healthy cells and support your regulatory system. This system helps to keep our bodies in balance, from pain sensation, mood, memory, immune system, inflammation control and even appetite.

Consuming CBD helps to feed your endocannabinoid system and keep your body in check, which is why it has become such a popular product in today's health and wellbeing industry.

There have been many reports from users of CBD regarding how it has helped them in their daily life. Many claim that CBD helps to reduce stress and anxiety, and reduce the symptoms of depression. On the other hand, there are those who have claimed that CBD products have improved their overall performance and increase their energy and focus.

Can I use CBD whilst pregnant?

Currently, there has been no scientific research into the use of CBD products during pregnancy.

Although CBD is not inherently dangerous in any way, as a precaution we do advise against the use of CBD products until comprehensive scientific research has been undertaken.

Does CBD use have any side effects?

There have been no serious side effects reported from any person using Faith CBD products.

Side effects noted by a small number of subjects in medical studies have been mild nausea, dryness of mouth, diarrhoea, fatigue and changes in appetite and weight.

Can I overdose on CBD?

There have been no known reports of a fatal overdose from CBD.

According to the national cancer institue "because cannabinoid receptors, unlike opioid receptors, are not located in the brainstem areas controlling respiration, lethal overdoses from cannabinoids do not occur."

Although not fatal everyone reacts differently, it is always best to follow the recommended serving size indicated on the cbd product you purchase.

Will CBD make me high?

CBD is derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant with THC levels less than 0.2%. It is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid and will not get you high.
